Questions and answers

Straight answers to what owners, their lawyers and AI teams ask us most.

For business owners

What exactly am I licensing?

A de-identified copy of selected business records, such as email threads, system records and accounting history, for use in training and evaluating AI models. You choose which systems and date ranges are included.

Do I give up my data?

No. Your originals stay where they are and remain yours. Licenses are non-exclusive unless you choose an exclusive deal at a higher price.

How much is it worth?

It depends on size, years of history, how well records link across systems, and buyer demand in your industry. The estimate gives a range. Buyers set the final price after reviewing a de-identified sample.

How long does it take?

Expect a few weeks from review call to signed license. Most of that time goes to the sample and your approval of it.

What does it cost me?

Nothing up front. We're paid a share of the license fee, agreed in writing before any work on your records begins. If no buyer licenses your records, you owe nothing.

Can I license to more than one buyer?

Yes. Non-exclusive licenses let you license the same records again. If you grant exclusivity, it's for a set period named in the contract.

Can I turn down a buyer?

Yes. The buyer is named in your contract, and you can refuse any buyer.

Privacy and legal

What about my customers' and employees' information?

Personal details are removed or replaced before anything is delivered, and HR, payroll and medical records are never collected. See exactly what we remove.

What if my customer contracts have confidentiality clauses?

Records covered by those clauses stay out unless that customer agrees in writing. We go through this with you on the review call.

Will anyone know the records came from my company?

Not unless you choose to be named. By default your company, customers, suppliers and people are replaced with stand-ins, and buyers see only your industry, size band and region.

Is this legal?

Licensing de-identified business records is lawful in the US when it's done carefully. We structure each deal so only de-identified records are licensed, check your contracts, and exclude regulated data. We're not your lawyer, and we encourage you to have counsel review the license.

What happens to my data after the deal?

We delete our working copies of your raw exports and the keys used to create stand-ins, and confirm it in writing. Buyers must delete the licensed records when the license ends.

Payment

When do I get paid?

Under the payment terms in your contract, after the buyer pays. We don't promise fixed payout dates before a buyer has paid.

How are you paid?

We take a share of the license fee, agreed in writing up front. There are no other fees.

For AI teams

What sectors and formats do you supply?

US freight brokerage, manufacturing and distribution, specialty contracting, commercial insurance and customs brokerage, delivered as linked workflow chains with a datasheet and de-identification report. See details for AI teams.

Can we see a sample?

Yes, under NDA: a redacted preview of workflow chains from the sector you're interested in.
